About the Role:
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the data systems that enable our teams to build and ship data-driven products.. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, tackle challenging data engineering tasks, and help us build robust and efficient data solutions tailored to our company's unique needs.
What You'll Do:
- Technical Leadership: Design and evolve the core components of our data platform. Own complex initiatives end-to-end, guide architectural decisions, and ensure scalable, efficient solutions aligned with business goals.
- Model-Ready Data Architecture: Architect data structures and pipelines optimized for advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI workloads. Enable reliable, interpretable data for models and downstream consumers.
- Cross-Functional Impact: Partner closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams to deliver seamless data integrations and support decision-making across the organization.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously improve data storage, processing, and retrieval to deliver a fast, resilient data experience. Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks proactively.
- Innovation & Tooling: Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new approaches that strengthen our data ecosystem and developer productivity.
- Data Quality & Governance: Build and maintain robust data quality checks and contribute to strong governance standards that ensure trustworthy, well-managed data.
- Mentorship & Culture: Coach and uplift other engineers, promoting a collaborative environment rooted in technical excellence and continuous learning.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building scalable data solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Strong experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
- Strong background in developing end-to-end solutions in a production environment.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with streaming data systems (Kafka in particular), and with setting up and using databases such as Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor team members.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake) is a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD tools and practices. Experience with Codex or other agentic/AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated curiosity and comfort using AI tools to enhance productivity and creativity.
- Ability to identify when and how to use AI responsibly while maintaining data privacy and accuracy.
